Committed for the future

The "Institut de la Finance Durable" aims to coordinate, federate and accelerate the action of the Paris financial center to achieve the ecological transition and the transformation of the economy towards a low-carbon and inclusive model, aligned with the objectives of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Created in October 2022, the IFD takes over from Finance For Tomorrow.  Finance for Tomorrow brings together all private, public and institutional actors of the Paris financial center willing to commit to a finance that is focused on a sustainable future and combines long-term investment with the consideration of environmental and social challenges.

History

At the end of 2015, the adoption of the Paris Agreement and the UN's sustainable development goals highlighted the enormous challenge of financing the energy transition.The Green & Sustainable Finance was launched in 2016 by Paris EUROPLACE, which supports and develops the French financial industry and promotes Paris as an international financial centre.  Following the recommendations of Yves Perrier's report, submitted in March 2022 to Bruno Le Maire, Finance for Tomorrow was transformed and became the "Institut de la Finance Durable" in January 2023.

Massively redirecting capital flows towards the energy transition is now a priority challenge, and Finance for Tomorrow has set itself the "Shift the trillions" guiding principle to scale up the change in scale of green and sustainable finance already underway.

Our work
Sustainable finance expertise

The IFD is continuing the work begun by Finance For Tomorrow (preservation and financing of biodiversity and natural capital, development of impact finance, just transition, support for the development of ESG talents, support for sustainable fintechs).

It carries out the missions previously entrusted to Finance For Tomorrow: the Sustainable Finance Observatory and the secretariat of the SRI label committee.

Climate taskforces

In addition to this work, new projects are underway: financing solutions for the ecological transition, CO2 accounting by industry, standardization of extra-financial analysis methods, governance recommendations on carbon externality management, etc.

The Institute's priority is to define and implement the financing plan for the ecological transition, but also to develop the operational tools necessary for action.

Presidency

Yves Perrier is President of the IIFD. Jacques Aschenbroich is the Vice President.
They participate in the governance bodies. 

Executive Board

The Bureau is chaired by the Chairman of the Board of Directors or, in his absence, by the Vice-Chairman. It is responsible for implementing the projects and action plan decided by the Board of the Institute for Sustainable Finance. Its members are appointed by the Board of the Institute for Sustainable Finance on the proposal of its president.
The Executive Board meets at least six times a year.

Plenary Committee

The plenary committee of the "Institut de la Finance Durable" is made up of all the partner members. It meets at least once a year.

The plenary committee is consulted on the general orientations and on the action plan of the Institute for Sustainable Finance.

Board of Directors

The Board is responsible for defining and monitoring the projects and action plan of the Institute for Sustainable Finance. It supervises their implementation by the Executive Board and the Director. It prepares and submits the draft budget and accounts to the association's accounts committee and the draft annual report of the Institute for Sustainable Finance to the steering committee, with a view to their transmission to the association's board of directors. The board meets at least three times a year. It may grant any delegations it deems necessary.
